Typical range

Medical cost projections are scoped narrower than a full life care plan and are typically completed from the records alone. Fees reflect the number of treatment recommendations to price and the projection horizon. KW Life Care Planning provides a written fee schedule and a cost estimate before work begins.

What drives cost

• Number of treatment recommendations, procedures, and medications to be projected
• Volume of medical records and the number of treating providers to reconcile
• Whether the projection covers a defined period or the remaining life expectancy
• Cost research required to price each item by geographic region
• Whether an interview with the individual or treating provider is requested
• Deposition and trial testimony, if the projection is used beyond settlement

Billing structure

Medical cost projections are billed at an hourly rate for records review, treatment plan confirmation, cost research, report preparation, and any testimony. Many projections are completed within a fixed initial retainer because the scope is defined at engagement. The current rate schedule and retainer terms are provided on request and confirmed in a written engagement agreement.
