Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) is a national certification, not a New York license. How a New York court weighs it is decided case by case under the forum's expert rules; this page covers the credential's scope, the New York venues where a plan is examined, and our planners who hold it and serve New York.
The CRC is the national certification for rehabilitation counselors. In life care planning it is one of the qualifying credentials for CLCP certification and supports the plan's coverage of rehabilitation services, assistive technology, community reintegration, supported living, and the day-program and vocational services that adults with disabilities use across the life span.
New York's Supreme Court is the trial-level forum for personal injury and medical malpractice claims despite its name, with the five New York City counties among the highest-volume venues in the country. Workers' compensation claims are decided by the New York State Workers' Compensation Board.
Outside the civil courts, the New York State Workers' Compensation Board is the forum where a plan is most often examined in New York. KW Life Care Planning CRC-credentialed experts apply nationally recognized standards while accounting for New York's practice environment.
CRC-credentialed experts provide testimony in New York's courts, where expert qualification is determined case by case.
Highest court: Court of Appeals. Federal venues: S.D.N.Y., E.D.N.Y., N.D.N.Y., W.D.N.Y..
The CRC is a national certification administered by CRCC. It is distinct from state licensure, though many states also license professional or rehabilitation counselors separately.
The CRC is one of the recognized entry credentials to CLCP certification, and its training in disability, rehabilitation services, and community resources supports the non-medical sections of a life care plan such as supported living, day programs, and assistive technology.
No single credential is mandated. Qualification is assessed case by case on education, training, and experience, and the CRC combined with life care planning certification is widely accepted.
Every five years, with documented continuing education meeting CRCC's requirements.
